Sept. 17, 1997 - MSU announces that St. Olaf men's assitant coach Todd Carroll has been selected as first coach of the Maverick women's hockey program.

Oct. 30, 1998 - MSU falls by an 11-1 margin in the first game of Maverick women's hockey history. Freshman Michelle Sikich scored the first goal in school history with her first period tally coming at the 2:44 mark. Heather Nadeau and Jody Rankin drew assists on the goal by Sikich.

Nov. 13, 1998 - Alex Schmidt-Pederson's overtime tally lifts MSU to a 3-2 victory over Gustavus for program's first win.

Dec. 6, 1998 - Freshman forward Erin Haferman collects first hat trick in MSU women's hockey history when she scores three times in 7-4 win over Boston College.

March 6, 1999 - MSU closes out the inaugural season with a 6-0 loss at Minnesota. Michelle Sikich led the Mavericks in scoring for the season with 18-21--38 and freshman goaltender Jenny Padget was named MVP as MSU posted a 14-15 reocrd for the season.

Mar. 15 and 16, 1999 - The Mavericks open the season with a two-game home sweep over Wayne State as the Mavericks prevail by the score of 8-0 and 8-2 over the visiting Warriors.

Feb. 26, 2000 - Minnesota downs MSU 10-0 in Minneapolis as the Mavericks concluded year two with an 8-25-2 ledger.

Mar. 8, 2001 - A 10-1 loss at Minnesota Duluth puts a bow on the 2000-01 campaign and the game marks the last MSU constest in the tenure of head coach Todd Carroll.

May 10, 2001 - Former Wisconsin women's hockey assistant coach Jeff Vizenor is introduced as the second head coach in the history of MSU women's hockey history.

Oct. 26, 2001 - Kearstin Soberg scores twice as the Mavericks down Wayne State, 3-1, to give Vizenor his first win as head coach of the Mavericks.

Oct. 19, 2002 - Junior netminder Shari Vogt stops a team record 63 shots in 6-1 loss at Minnesota Duluth. By the end of the season the Richmond, Minn., native would become the program's first All-WCHA selection.

Mar. 1, 2003 - A 7-3 home loss to St. Cloud State ends MSU's season, but the team's ten victories during the course of the season are eight-win improvement over the previous year.

Oct. 17, 2003 - Forward Melanie Salatino becomes the fourth player in the program's history to score four goals in a game as the Mavericks best North Dakota 5-2 in Mankato.

Mar. 26, 2004 - MSU goes 16-14--4 and an announcement is made that Jeff Vizenor has been named the WCHA Coach of the Year and senior goaltender Shari Vogt has been named All-WCHA First Team.

Mar. 29, 2004 - Senior goaltender Shari Vogt is named to the 2004 Jofa NCAA Division I Jofa All-American Second team, becoming the first MSU women's hockey player named All-American. Vogt, woh was a finalist for the Patty Kazmeier Award as the top player in the nation, concluded her stellar collegiate career as a four-time MVP, an eight-time WCHA Player of the Week and the holder of virtually every MSU goaltending record.

Jan. 15, 2005 - Thunder Bay, Ont., native Melanie Salatino scores her 33rd career goal to become MSU's all-time leadin goal-scorer as the Mavericks down North Dakota 3-0 in a WCHA game played in Mankato. The win was MSU's fifth in a row. Salatino scores two more times as MSU completes the year with a 9-20-6 record.

Feb. 24, 2006 - Sophomore goaltender Britni Kehler stops 48 shots in a 3-3 overtime tie with #5 Minnesota Duluth and is named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time of the season. MSU goes on to forge 11-21-4 record for the 2005-06 season.

Jan. 20, 2007 - The Mavericks claim a 4-3 win over Minnesota to complete a two-game sweep over the seventh-ranked Gophers. The victory extends MSU's winning-streak to a school-record seven games and the Mavericks go 10-6-2 in the last 17 games of the year to finish 2006-07 with a 16-8-2 mark.

Feb. 10, 2007 - Junior goaltender Britni Kehler stops 30 shots and Maggie Fisher and Jodi Helminen score goals as the Mavericks down St. Cloud State. The win is the 100th of Jeff Vizenor's collegiate coaching career.

Feb. 1, 2008 - The Mavericks defeated St. Cloud State 4-1 for their 50th WCHA victory. Lindsey Macy scored the game winning goal 56 seconds into the third period. She also added an assist in the game.

Feb. 9, 2008 - With a 5-2 win at home against Bemidji State, MSU recorded it's 100th victory all-time. The Mavericks won the game with the heroics of Christina Lee, who earned the first hat trick by a Maverick since Melanie Salatino scored four times against North Dakota Oct. 17, 2003.

Feb. 28, 2009 - Junior forward Christina Lee scored twice, leading the fifth-seed Minnesota State women's hockey team past the fourth-seed St. Cloud State University, 2-1. With the win, the Mavericks earn their first-ever playoff victory. The Mavericks later went on to win their first palyoff series in MSU history.

Sept. 9, 2009 - Minnesota State University announces the hiring of men's hockey assitant coach Eric Means as the new head coach of the women's hockey program. Means is the 3rd head coach in the history of the women's hockey program.

Feb. 25, 2010 - Minnesota State junior forward Nina Tikkinen returned to Mankato from her 2010 Olympic journey as the first-ever Minnesota State athlete to earn an Olympic medal. Tikkinen and Team Finland defeated Team Sweden 3-2 to earn the Bronze medal in the 2010 Vancouver Olympic games.

Feb. 27, 2010 - The Minnesota State women's hockey team took part in the longest game in program history. MSU dropped a playoff contest to Minnesota in triple overtime. The game lasted three hours and 47 minutes.

Oct. 1, 2011 - Minnesota State routs Lindenwood University, 10-2, at All Seasons Arena setting a team record for assists in a single-game, while sophomore Kathleen Rogan tied an individual single-game record with four goals and sophomore Lauren Barnes also tied an individual single-game record with four assists in the contest.

Feb. 25, 2012 - Senior Jackie Otto's four-year career comes to an end with a 4-0 loss to Wisconsin in the WCHA Quarterfinals, but Otto - who did not miss a game in her entire career - finishes with 142 games played, the most by any Maverick.

Oct. 22, 2012 - After starting the season 4-2-2, MSU cracked the USCHO.com national poll at No. 10 marking the first time the program had been nationally ranked in nearly seven years dating back to Nov. 28, 2005.

Jan. 2, 2013 - Sophomore Kathleen Rogan tallies three goals and one assist in a 6-0 MSU victory over Lindenwood en route to registering her third career hat trick, a program record.

Feb. 2, 2013 - Senior Lauren Smith scores her 19th goal of the season in an 8-2 home loss to No. 9 North Dakota to establish a new single-season program record for goals scored.

Mar. 8, 2013 - Lauren Smith becomes the second Maverick in program history to earn conference honors when she is named Third-Team All-WCHA after finishing with a single-season program record 24 goals, 13 assists and 37 total points, two points shy of the single-season mark.

Mar. 6, 2014 - Danielle Butters was named Third-Team All-WCHA finishing the 2013-14 with a 9-21-0 record. She amassed a save percentage of .924 and a goals against average of 2.94.

Nov. 1. 2014 - Erin Krichiver stops 59 shots in a game vs. Minnesota Duluth, generating the second most saves in a game in program history.

Nov. 13, 2014 - Erin Krichiver records 59 saves for the second time in the 2014-15 season, tying for the second most stops in a game in program history for the second time in her career.

Feb. 2, 2015 - Nicole Schammel becomes the first Maverick to record a hat trick since Kathleen Rogan did so Jan. 2, 2013 in a 6-0 win against Lindenwood. It is also the first by a freshman since Oct. 22, 2010 when Rogan recorded three goals in a 4-2 over North Dakota.

May 6, 2015 - Minnesota State announces the hiring of head coach John Harrington to guide the program. Harrington becomes the fourth coach in the history of the women’s hockey program.

Oct. 5, 2015 - Minnesota State moves into Verizon Wireless Center in downtown Mankato and calls the newly-renovated rink their home under coach Harrington. The Mavericks were bested by sixth-rated North Dakota in their debut at the upgraded venue by a clip of 2-1.

Nov. 18, 2016 - Minnesota State defeats Ohio State 2-1 at Verizon Wireless Center for the first WCHA win under head coach John Harrington.

Dec. 10, 2016 - Minnesota State upsets then-No. 3 ranked Minnesota Duluth 2-1 at Verizon Wireless Center. Sophomore defenseman Megan Hinze scored both Maverick goals in the victory. Hinze was named WCHA Defensive Player of the Week.

Feb. 18, 2017 - Minnesota State defeats Bemidji State 3-1 in Bemidji, Minn., for its seventh win of the season. The Mavericks’ seven wins were more than the previous two seasons combined.
