MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State women's hockey coach
Shari Dickerman has announced that
Neely Hawn will join the Mavericks for the 2026-27 season.
Hawn, who is a 5-8 blueliner from Mars, Penn., appeared in 35 games last season for Merrimack. The right shot freshman finished the season recording two goals and four assists for six points along with 40 shots on net, while blocking 38 shots, the fifth highest total for the Warriors. Hawn is a two-sport athlete at Merrimack, where she is also on the lacrosse team.
"We are excited to welcome Neely to our program and the Maverick Family," said Dickerman. "Her ability to retrieve pucks and start a breakout paired with her willingness to close out plays early and block shots will be a nice addition to a strong defensive group we have in place."
Hawn's father, Darin played for the Mavericks from 1995-99, appearing in 123 games and finishing 10-36—46. He won the team's Unsung Hero award in 1998-99. Her mother, Kristen, was a field hockey player at Penn.
Prior to Merrimack, Hawn played for Bishop Kearney Selects, 19U AAA, playing in 59 games and registering 45 points (14-31—45) helping guide the Bishop Kearney the USA Hockey National Championship.
