Mavericks Launch Six Home Runs in 25–0 Shutout of Northern State

ABERDEEN, S.D. — Minnesota State (32–10) delivered a dominant offensive performance on Friday at Fossum Field, defeating Northern State (12–23) 25–0 behind six home runs and 18 total hits.

The Mavericks set the tone early, exploding for seven runs in the second inning. Louis Magers opened the scoring with a solo home run, followed by a three-run blast from Pambos Nicoloudes. Cole Yearsley and CJ Trask added key RBI hits as Minnesota State quickly built a commanding lead.

The offense stayed hot in the third inning as Ethan Bowers and Nicoloudes each homered, combining for five RBIs in the frame. The Mavericks continued to capitalize on opportunities, taking advantage of walks, hit-by-pitches, and Northern State errors while adding runs through timely hitting from Jake Berkland, Charlie Schau, and Logan Miller.

Minnesota State kept piling on in the fourth, highlighted by a home run from Brandon Vlcko and a two-run shot from Yearsley. The Mavericks maintained pressure throughout the game, never allowing Northern State to find momentum.

On the mound, Gannon Reidinger started and worked three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one to improve to 4–0 on the season. Brady Nelson followed with four shutout innings of relief, allowing no hits, walking one, hitting one batter, and striking out four to preserve the combined shutout.

Offensively, Nicoloudes led the way with two home runs and six RBIs. Vlcko finished with three hits, including a homer and two RBIs, while Yearsley added a home run and three RBIs. Magers contributed two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs.

The six home runs marked one of Minnesota State's top power outputs of the season. The Mavericks' season-high for home runs came earlier this year against Southwest Minnesota State, when they recorded eight home runs in a single game.

"Today was a complete team effort. We came out with good energy, stayed disciplined in our approach, and pounded the strike zone," said head coach Matt Magers. "Our guys did a good job staying focused from start to finish."

Minnesota State will conclude the series tomorrow at Fossum Field in Aberdeen, with first pitch scheduled for noon.
