WINONA, Minn. — Minnesota State split its midweek series with Winona State, falling 7–6 in 10 innings before bouncing back for an 11–8 victory on Wednesday at Loughrey Field.

Game 1 – Minnesota State: 6 | Winona State: 7

In the opener, the Mavericks dropped a heartbreaker in extra innings despite briefly taking control in the 10th. Logan Miller and Jake Berkland opened the inning with back-to-back hits, setting up RBI singles from CJ Trask and Cole Yearsley to give MSU a 6–4 lead.

Winona State answered in the bottom half, using a single and a walk to set the stage for a walk-off three-run home run to secure the 7–6 win.

Minnesota State jumped out early, with Trask delivering an RBI double in the first and Charlie Schau adding a bunt single to plate another run. Schau finished with three hits, while Trask tallied two hits and two RBIs. Berkland and Louis Magers each scored twice.

Sam George started on the mound, tossing 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Ben Irsfeld took the loss despite striking out nine in relief.
