Mavericks Wrap Up Minnesota State Open

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's and women's track and field teams concluded the Minnesota State Open Monday afternoon at the Mark Schuck Outdoor Track and Field Complex.

The Mavericks return to action on Saturday as they travel to Pittsburg, Kan., to compete in the Pitt State Tune Up.
 
Men
 
The 4x100m relay team of Tyreese Jones, Kenjuan Hampton, Rinaldo Moore and Robert McGhee took first place with a time of 40.63, which ranks 22nd in Division II this season. Hampton would also win the 200m event with a time of 20.72, the fifth best in DII. Qai Hussey followed in second place in the 200m event with a time of 21.19 that ranked 35th in Division II.

The 400m event saw Quinton Ellis lead the way as his time of 46.76 ranks 12th in Division II this season. Hussey followed in third place with a time of 47.50.

In the 1,500m event Luke Scholtes finished first with a personal best time of 3:58.48. In the 800m, Grant Mayers took second place with a time of 1:56.19.

Jalen McGee too third place in the 100m event with a personal best time of 10.73. McGee won the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.10 and was followed by Keaton Wattier who posted a time of 14.14. Their times ranked 11th and 15th in DII this season. McGee also notched the fourth best jump in the long jump event in DII with a jump of 7.58m (24-10.25).

Rinaldo Moore posted the third fastest NCAA Division II time in the 400m hurdles with a time of 51.18. He was followed by Marenono Opiew who recorded the eighth fastest time in DII with a time of 51.84. Opiew also notched the 10th best jump in the triple jump in DII this season with a jump of 15.22m (49-11.25).

Hugo Albanese won the high jump event with a jump of 2.08m (6-9.75) which ranks 18th in DII.

Ben Wieser recorded a fourth place finish in the hammer throw with a Personal best toss of 51.99m (170-7). Hayden Bills led the field in the shot put event with a throw of 17.74m (58-02.5) as well.

Blake Wakeling led the way in the pole vault event with a season- best vault of 4.83m (15-10).
 
Women

Sophie Baker led the way on the 10,000m event as she posted a time of 37:38.88. Madison Matzek won the 3,000m steeplechase event with a time of 11:22.10, which ranks 6th in in Division II.
In the 400m event, Brianna Shroyer posted the 54th fastest time in Division II with a time of 55.65. Grace Hambel followed in second with a personal best time of 56.93.

The 100m event saw Norah D'almeida finish in second with the 43rd fastest time of 11.93 in DII this season. Chantel Reiland followed in third place with a time of 11.99, which ranks 55th in Division II. D'almeida took second in the 200m event with a time of 24.39 as well.

The 110m hurdles saw Esaba Okwaramoi posted the third fastest time in Division II with a time of 13.51. Miranda Lauvstad won the 400m hurdles event with a time of 1:01.56, which ranks 42nd in Division II this season.

Madison Matzek's time of 11:22.10 in the 3,000m steeplechase led the way and ranks 67th in Division II this season, while Sophie Baker posted a time of 37:38.88 in the 10,000m to finish first.
In the hammer throw, Aubri Brown led the field with a throw of 54.86m (180-0) which ranks 15th in Division II. Brown also won the shot put event (13.70m, 44-11.5) which ranks 39th in Division II.

Lilian Washington won the high jump event with a jump of 1.68m (5-6) that ranks 24th in DII. Washington would also win the triple jump event with a jump of 12.40m (40-8.25) that ranks fourth in Division II.

Lauvstad would lead the way in the long jump event with a jump of 6.16m (20-2.5) and was followed by Dorcus Opoku who finished second with the fourth-best jump in DII with a jump of 6.08m (19-11.50)
