AUBURNDALE, Fla. --- Minnesota State fell to Nova Southeastern Sunday morning by the score of 2-1.

With the loss, MSU drops to 11-5 on the season. With the win, NSU improves to 8-10.

Senior Louis Magers (0-2) took the loss as allowed two runs, on four hits, in five innings, while striking out six. Frederico Zapata (1-3) earned the win as he allowed just one run, on seven hits, in eight innings. Christopher Perez earned the save as he struck out two batters in the ninth inning.

Minnesota State scored its lone run of the game in the top of the first. Sophomore Jake Berkland led off the inning with a triple to right field, before scoring on a groundout to second base by Magers.

The Sharks were able to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. An error and a pair of singles, including an RBI-single by Nick Rodriguez, were able to bring NSU's first run across the plate. Two innings later, NSU took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Dakota Jones coaxed a leadoff walk, before coming around to score on a single to right field by Rodriguez.

The Mavericks would leave three runners on base in the final four innings of the game as Zapata and Perez kept the Maverick offense in check to secure the 2-1 win.
