Mavericks Shut Out Vulcans 10–0 in Seven Innings

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Minnesota State Mavericks (12-6) defeated California (Pa.) (6-4) by a score of 10-0 in seven innings Tuesday afternoon at NERP 4 behind dominant pitching and timely hitting.

Minnesota State opened the scoring early with a four-run first inning. CJ Trask highlighted the frame with a two-RBI triple, while Cole Yearsley added an RBI groundout to give the Mavericks an early lead.

The Mavericks added to their advantage in the fifth inning when Ethan Bowers led off with a double and later scored on a two-run home run from Yearsley to extend the lead.

Minnesota State sealed the win with a four-run seventh inning. Trask drove in Louis Magers with an RBI double before sacrifice flies from Quinn Ludvigson and Charlie Schau added two more runs. Sam Haugen capped the scoring with an RBI single.

On the mound, Gannon Reidinger earned the win after throwing five hitless innings with four strikeouts and no walks while facing the minimum 15 batters. Kaeden Guida pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits and striking out three to complete the shutout.

Trask led the Mavericks at the plate with three hits, including a double and a triple, and three RBIs. Yearsley added a home run and three RBIs, while Bowers scored three runs and recorded a double.

"Reidinger gave us a quality start on the mound and set the tone early." said head coach Matt Magers. "Offensively we were able to score early and keep putting together good innings throughout the game. It was a great way to finish our Florida trip as we turn our focus back to conference play this weekend."

Minnesota State returns to action Friday, March 13, when it faces Minot State at Frerichs Legion Field in Elkhorn, Nebraska. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT.
