MANKATO, Minn. --- The National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced that Minnesota State head coach
Jim Makovsky has been named the NWCA Division II Men's Super Region V Coach of the Year for his efforts this season. He previously received the honor in 2019.
In his 33rd season as head coach of the Minnesota State wrestling team, Makovsky guided the Mavericks to a 15-4 dual record this season, including an 8-2 record in NSIC action.
This season, the Mavericks have posted a pair of shutouts, including a 46-0 win over Southwest Minnesota State in Makovsky's final home dual of his career. MSU's 15 dual victories this season are the most in a season since the 2007-08 season where the Mavericks won 20 duals.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday at the NCAA Super Region V Championships. The event will be held at the R/A Facility in Marshall, Minn.
