MANKATO, Minn. – No. 25 Minnesota State wrestling (15-4, 8-2 NSIC) competes at the NCAA Super Region V Championships on Saturday, February 28 at R/A Facility in Marshall, Minnesota. Southwest Minnesota State serves as host and matches begin at 10 a.m. CT.
Participating teams include No. 7 Augustana, No. 14 UMary, MSU Moorhead, Minot State, Northern State, Southwest Minnesota State, No. 9 St. Cloud State, Upper Iowa, No. 6 Wisconsin-Parkside and Sioux Falls.

LAST YEAR
The Mavericks finished fifth at the NCAA Super Region V Championships last season at Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. MSU had seven wrestlers place at the NSIC Super Region V tournament today in Sioux Falls, S.D., with three wrestlers advancing to the NCAA DII Championships.

Drake Hayward placed third to punch their ticket to the championships, alongside junior 157-lb.
Caleb Meunier placing second to advance. The season culminated in a 17
th place national finish.
FOR THE MAVERICKS
The Maverick roster features four ranked wrestlers in NCAA Division II.
Junior
Chase Beckett was ranked No. 25 at 133 pounds. The Portage, Wisconsin native holds a 26-8 overall record, including 15-4 in duals with six wins by fall and five major decisions.
Junior
Walker Bents (Glenwood, Minnesota) is ranked No. 13 at 149 pounds. Bents is 23-5 overall, including 15-4 in duals with three wins by fall, five by tech fall and six by major decision.
Senior
Caleb Meunier (Winneconne, Wisconsin) improved his ranking to No. 8 at 157 pounds. Meunier leads the team with 15 wins by fall and is 26-5 overall (15-4 in duals).
Senior
Drake Hayward (Neenah, Wisconsin) has been a model of consistency, checking in at No. 13 in the national rankings at 174 pounds. Hayward is 26-6 overall, 15-4 in duals with nine wins by fall (second on team).
LEADING UP
The Mavericks closed out the regular season at home with a 46-0 shutout over Southwest Minnesota State on February 12. The Mavericks won all 10 matches in the dual, including two via fall, four via tech fall and two via major decisions. Meunier (157) earned a pin over Brad Beaver at 0:53 and
Kole Marko pinned Wyatt Pollard at 1:52.
The team honored its seniors before the match, along with head coach
Jim Makovsky after the match. Makovsky announced his retirement following the 2025-26 season after 33 years leading the program.
