RAPID CITY, S.D. – Catcher
Brandon Vlcko homered in both games Monday to help No. 11 Minnesota State baseball top Jamestown in both games of a doubleheader at Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium. The Mavericks improved to 5-1 overall, 2-0 in the NSIC and meet the Jimmies again on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at Noon CT.

Game 1 – Minnesota State 8, Jamestown 1 (7 inn.)
Vlcko and
Ethan Bowers smacked their first home runs of the season to help the Mavericks past Jamestown 8-1 in game one. Bowers' two run shot came in the second inning, scoring Vlcko and
Logan Miller on the play. An inning later Vlcko hit a long ball to right field to bring in
Pambos Nicoloudes.

Leading 6-0 in the third,
Louis Magers singled in
Jake Berkland and the Mavericks never looked back. Starting pitcher
Sam George (2-0) tossed 4.0 innings of shutout baseball and allowed three hits with six strikeouts.
Gannon Reidinger allowed one run and four hits over the final 3.0 innings for MSU.

Vlcko and Miller led the team with two hits apiece. Miller also drew a pair of walks. The Mavericks finished with 10 hits in their NSIC opener.

Game 2 – Minnesota State 16, Jamestown 0 (7 inn.)
The Mavericks scored early and often in game two with 16 runs and 16 hits. Vlcko went 3-for-3 at the plate with five runs batted in. Vlcko's second home run of the afternoon came in the third, part of a five run inning for MSU.

CJ Trask totaled three RBI with a pair of hits, including a home run in the third and
Owen Sikkink added an RBI double in the fourth.

On the mound,
Daniel Zang worked 3.0 innings and struck out six without allowing a hit.
Brody Schulte picked up his first win and he pitched a scoreless fourth and fifth frames and allowed two hits.
Ben Llewellyn finished with two innings, walked one and struck out two.

Jake Berkland continued a strong start to his 2026 campaign and is hitting .520 with 13 hits over six games.

Jamestown dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-2 in NSIC play.
