ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota State (15-17-2, 9-17-2 WCHA) clinched a thrilling 4–3 overtime victory against St. Thomas (12-21-1, 7-20-1 WCHA) on the road in St. Paul.
The game opened with Minnesota State applying early pressure while Hailey Hansen came up with key saves to hold off the Tommies' attack. At 6:56 of the first period, Ayla Puppe put the Mavericks on the board with a power-play goal off assists from Taylor Otremba and Kianna Roeske to make it 1-0. Minnesota State maintained that lead heading into the first intermission.
St. Thomas responded in the second period, tying the game 1-1 at 6:29 as Rylee Bartz found the back of the net. The Mavericks generated multiple power-play chances in the frame but were unable to convert, sending the teams into the third period even.
Minnesota State regained momentum in the final period. Sophie Stramel scored on the power play at 18:42 with assists from Kamryn Van Batavia and Lauren Goldsworthy to give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead. Mercury Bischoff extended the advantage with an even-strength goal at 13:51, assisted by Anika Stromme and Whitney Tuttle, pushing the score to 3-1.
The Tommies answered with a power-play goal from Whitney Horton at 10:06 to cut the lead to 3-2. In dramatic fashion, St. Thomas tied the game with eight seconds remaining on an extra-attacker goal by Ella Boerger, forcing overtime at 3-3.
Minnesota State wasted no time in the extra period. Just 18 seconds into overtime, Kianna Roeske netted the game-winner off assists from Whitney Tuttle and Taylor Otremba, sealing the 4-3 victory for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks begin WCHA play on Friday February 27th.
