MANKATO, Minn. – No. 5 Minnesota State women's track and field celebrated senior day and concluded its final tune-up before the NSIC Championships on Friday in the Maverick Open at Myers Field House.
On the track,
Ashanti Harvey ran a time of 8.52 in 60 meter hurdles finals.
Alexa Post was right behind in second place with her personal best time of 8.80.
Norah D'Almeida took second in 60 meter dash for the Mavericks with a season best time of 7.65 (65
th in Division II).
Amanda Overgaauw led the field in the mile run, with a personal record time of 5:07.75.
Lexi Kuffel and
Gianna Figueroa finished first and second in 600 meters. Kuffel's time of 1:37.42 and Figueroa's time of 1:41.21 were both personal bests.
Grace Hambel set a season best 200 meters with her top finish in 25.59, while
Sophie Baker was first in 3000 meters with a time of 10:36.84, ahead of teammates
Olivia Minear,
Madi Wendlandt and Emmah Dmtrasz.
The Mavericks ended the day in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of
Grace Obour,
Brianna Shroyer,
Miranda Lauvstad and
Amalinally Pemberton placed first with a combined time of 3:50.31.
Lauvstad also made waves in the field with a first place long jump of 6.19m (20-3.75).
Aubri Brown topped the competition in shot put with a mark of 13.39m (43-11.25) as well as weight throw (20.12m, 66-00.25).
Elvira Collvin was MSU's top finisher in pole vault in second place (3.80m, 5.50), tied with Peyton Hanson (Sioux Falls), 26
th in Division II.
"It was a wonderful day celebrating our 42 seniors in our track and field program," said head coach
Mike Turgeon. "We are beginning our taper as our student-athletes prepare for conference competition. Our staff is excited to have the entire team back together and competing as one next week as we look to defend our NSIC Indoor Conference Championship."
Minnesota State women's track and field is the host institution for the NSIC Indoor Championships on Feb. 27-28 at Myers Field House, where they will be seeking a sixth consecutive indoor title.
