NEW ORLEANS - Minnesota State women's indoor track and field was rated No. 5 in NCAA Division II at checkpoint #4 by USTFCCCA on Tuesday. Pittsburg State (Kan.) remained the top team in the nation with 223.78 points, followed by West Texas A &M (199.99), Grand Valley State (182.69), Adams State (174.43) and Minnesota State (174.43). The Mavericks were rated No. 4 last week and hosted the Ted Nelson Classic on Friday at Myers Field House.
The Mavericks have 20 performances inside the nation's top-32.
Miranda Lauvstad continues to lead the country in long jump with her mark of 6.24m (20-5.75) set at the Mark Schuck Open and Multi (Jan. 31).
Ghada Hamdani also holds the top mark in triple jump at 12.93m (42-5) from the Chuck Petersen Open (Dec. 5). Lauvstad is also second in pentathlon while
Aubri Brown is second in Division II weight throw (set at the Ted Nelson Classic).
Minnesota State men's and women's track and field indoor season continues on Friday with the Maverick Open at Myers Field House. The teams will celebrate senior day at the meet.
