MARYVILLE, Mo. – Minnesota State tennis fell 6-1 to Northwest Missouri State in tennis Sunday afternoon at Rosewell Tennis Center.
Julia Gurholt and
McKenna DeMarce picked up a win at No. 1 doubles for the Mavericks and
Amanda Blanco-Epple won in straight sets at No. 6 singles.
Â
"We had a strong showing in doubles to start the match," said head coach
Drew Hawthorne. "McKenna and Julia played aggressively and dominated at the net to win against a tough team. We were just inches away from turning the other doubles matches in our favor. Northwest Missouri State challenged us in singles, but it was a great opportunity to implement what we've been working on in practice. The weekend was a motivating experience as we competed against a couple of the best teams in our region. We will bring this energy into the rest of the fall season."
Â
The Mavericks compete next at the Gustavus October Invitational on October 4-5 at Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota.
