Maverick Alumni Invited to NHL Training Camps

MANKATO, Minn. – Ten former Minnesota State men's hockey players are at NHL Training Camps that began this week. The NHL regular season starts on October 7.
 
Wyatt Aamodt (Colorado Avalanche)
Maverick captain, defenseman Wyatt Aamodt lettered from 2018-22 and completed his collegiate career with 10 goals, 19 assists in 123 games. Aamodt spent parts of four seasons playing for the Colorado Eagles (AHL), then made his NHL debut for the Colorado Avalanche in 2024-25. He has one goal and one point in two NHL contests.
 
Teddy Blueger (Vancouver Canucks)
Center Teddy Blueger made his National Hockey League debut in 2019 for the Tampa Bay Lightning after being selected in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He joined Ryan Carter as former MSU players to have their names engraved on the Stanley Cup when he won with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2022-23. Blueger has played in 418 NHL games and appeared in all 82 games for the Canucks last season, scoring eight goals and tallying 18 assists.
 
Brian Carrabes (New Jersey Devils)
After graduation last season from the Mavericks, Brian Carrabes played six games in the ECHL for the Adirondack Thunder after signing a standard player contract and posted three assists and a plus-one rating. Carrabes, 23, finished his final season with the Mavericks and tallied 20 points (10g, 10a) in 39 games. In two seasons with Minnesota State University, the North Reading, Massachusetts native accumulated 42 points (20g, 22a) and a plus/minus rating of +18.
 
Walker Duehr (Winnipeg Jets)
Duehr finished his collegiate career with 25 goals, 26 assists and 51 points over 102 games for the Mavericks. Duehr also posted a goal and an assist in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals against St. Cloud State in 2021. He signed an NHL contract with the Calgary Flames and debuted for the Flames against the Ottawa Senators, becoming the first player from South Dakota to play an NHL game. He was waived by the Flames, then claimed by the San Jose Sharks in 2025. Duehr then signed as a free agent to a one-year two-way contract by the Winnipeg Jets for the 2025-26 season. In 92 NHL games, Duehr has five goals and four assists.
 
Brendan Furry (Tampa Bay Lightning)
Furry served as team captain of the Mavericks in 2022-23 and totaled 27 goals, 58 assists and 111 games played in Purple and Gold over three seasons. Furry, a Toledo, Ohio native played three games for the LeHigh Valley Phantoms (AHL) in 2022-23. He then tallied 18 points in 57 games for the Phantoms in 2023-24 and 19 points in 61 games in 2024-25. Furry has 17 goals over three AHL seasons.
 
Jake Livingstone (Pittsburgh Penguins)
Defensemen Jake Livingstone made his National Hockey League debut on April 6, 2023 playing for the Nashville Predators at home against the Carolina Hurricanes. Livingstone signed a free-agent contract with Nashville following his three-year career at Minnesota State and played five games in the NHL in 2022-23. During his time as a Maverick, Livingstone played on three MacNaughton Cup Championship teams and two Mason Cup championship teams. After competing in 59 games for the Milwaukee Admirals in 2024-25, Livingstone signed a professional tryout with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sept. 17, 2025.
 
Dryden McKay (Utah Mammoth)
Goaltender Dryden McKay won the Hobey Baker Award at Minnesota State and backstopped the Mavericks to the National Championship game in 2021-22. McKay spent two professional seasons with the Toronto Marlies (AHL) and Newfoundland Growlers (ECHL). In 2024-25, McKay played 35 games for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL), one game for the Ontario Reign (AHL) and seven games for the Bloomington Bison (ECHL). He signed a one-year ECHL contract with the Utah Grizzlies on July 8, 2025.
 
Sam Morton (Calgary Flames)
After four seasons with the Mavericks, Morton signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames on March 18, 2024. In his final year at Minnesota State, Morton led the Mavericks with 24 goals and 34 points in 37 games and was named a Top-10 finalist for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award. He played his first NHL game on April 17, 2025, scoring a goal in a 5-1 victory against the Los Angeles Kings. Prior to his debut, Morton tallied 20 goals and 25 assists for the Calgary Wranglers over 70 AHL games in 2024-25. Morton played 13 games for the Wranglers in 2023-24 with five goals and two assists.
 
Rhett Pitlick (Edmonton Oilers)
Pitlick signed an amateur tryout with the Bakersfield Condors (AHL) on April 8, 2025 after leading the Mavericks in scoring with 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) in 39 games. He was originally selected in the fifth round (#131 overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft by Montreal. Pitlick then signed a two-year AHL contract beginning in the 2025-26 season. His brother Rem Pitlick also signed a one-year AHL contract in Bakersfield.
 
Connor Mackey (New York Rangers)
Defenseman Connor Mackey donned a Maverick sweater from 2017-20 and tallied 18 goals, 43 assists for 61 points in 118 games. A 2019-20 AHCA/CCM West Second Team All-American, he appeared in his first NHL game for the Calgary Flames in 2020-21. He has appeared in 42 NHL games for the Calgary Flames, Arizona Coyotes and New York Rangers, including one game for the Rangers in 2023-24 and two games in 2024-25.
