WAYNE, Neb. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team finished the Wayne State Invitational in fourth place Tuesday afternoon.
The two-round Wayne State Invitational was held at the par-72 Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb. The Maverick shot a 331-313—644 (+68) to finish in fourth place. Wayne State took first place in the team standings as it shot 322-312—634 (+58). Augustana's Shannon McCormick and Wayne State's Saffire Sayre tied for first in the individual standings as they finished +10. McCormick shot at 76-78—154, while Sayre posted a 77-77—154.
"The women played better today in the good weather which was sunny and had a lot less wind," assistant coach
Todd Pfingsten said. "We will continue to work on finishing our rounds strong as we look forward to playing in a week and a half at the NSIC Championships."
Sophomore
Victoria Woytassek led the Mavericks as she finished the event in sixth place with an 82-76—158 (+14). Junior
Samantha Youngquist finished in 11th as she posted an 83-77—160 (+16), while freshman
Emerson Garlie followed in 17th with an 83-79—162 (+18). Graduate student
Kelly Winter posted an 83-81—164 (+20) as well.
Junior
Ava Olson added an 84-87—171 (+27), while junior
Lauren Rebrovich posted an 85-83—168 (+24). Sophomore
Emma Berge recorded an 89-85—174 (+30) also.
Minnesota State continues its season at the NSIC Championships on April 25-27. The NSIC Championships will be held at the Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville, Mo.
