Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minnesota State tennis swept doubles en route to a 5-2 victory over Sioux Falls Friday at Heuther Tennis Center in NSIC play. It was the fifth straight match win for the Mavericks, who improved to 7-0 on the road.

"Sioux Falls has a strong team this year," said head coach
Matt Hokanson. "They battled us super tough. For us to grind out multiple closely contested matches and come away with a 5-2 win was awesome to see. I feel really positive about our group and where we are at."

Taina Cordeiro and
Hana Minisy were first to finish at No. 3 doubles with a 6-2 win over Jaelyn Haler and Emily Thinnsen.
Avery Stilwell and
Freia Lawrence secured the team point at No. 1, winning over Chloe Siegfort and Sofiya Janos 7-5 while
McKenna DeMarce and
Elizabeth Felderman won a tiebreaker at No. 2 7-6(2) over Ella Hancock and Sydney Osburn.

A battle ensued in singles, with four matches needing third sets for a decision. Felderman won a third set tiebreaker over Thinnsen 6-7(2), 6-3, 7-6(0) at No. 6 in two hours, 23 minutes. Lawrence also topped Siegfort at No. 1 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Minnesota State (8-1, 5-0 NSIC) plays at Augustana (8-4, 2-0 NSIC) Saturday in Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. CT. The Cougars (3-10, 2-1 NSIC) suffered their first conference loss of the spring, snapping a two-match win streak.
