Lemyre Lights Lamp Twice, #13 Mavericks Win Seventh Straight

MANKATO, Minn. – Senior Tristan Lemyre (Mirabel, Quebec) scored twice to help No. 13 Minnesota State past Ferris State 5-1 on Friday at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center. Senior goaltender Alex Tracy (Chicago, Ill.) also notched 22 saves as the Mavericks won their seventh straight game, their longest win streak since January of 2023 (eight in a row).

Jack Smith collected a loose puck behind the Ferris State goal frame, skated to the top of the crease and wrapped in his fifth of the year, 1:32 into the opening period for the Mavericks. Tracy was sharp early, with a right pad save on a Ferris State 2-on-1 following Smith's goal.

Fin Williams slapped in a loose puck in the crease to give Minnesota State a 2-0 lead at 15:34. Jordan Ronn and Mason LeBel collected assists on Williams' second goal of the season.

Jakob Stender worked forehand to backhand around Noah Rupprecht for the Mavericks' first shorthanded goal since last November (Zack Krajnik) and a 3-0 lead. Sawyer Scholl intercepted a Bulldog pass at the top of the Maverick defensive zone and skated through neutral ice, where he backhanded a pass on Stender's tape 12 minutes into the middle frame.

Alex Zetterberg and Ralfs Bergmanis helped Tristan Lemyre execute a one-time goal to the top-right corner of the goal from the left dot on the power play just over four minutes later. It was Lemyre's team-leading ninth tally and it came at 17:13.

Lemyre made it 5-0 with another power play goal in the third period, and the Mavericks surrendered one short-side wrister to Ferris State's John Lundy late.

Minnesota State (11-2-4, 8-1-2 CCHA) remained atop the CCHA standings and hosts Ferris State (3-12-0, 2-7-0 CCHA) again Saturday at 6:07 p.m. CT. The Mavericks finished 2-3 chances on the power play, while the Bulldogs converted 0-2. MSU won 29 of 49 faceoffs (59.2-percent).
