MANKATO, Minn. — Minnesota State women's hockey picked up a pair of WCHA weekly awards as junior goaltender
Hailey Hansen (Blaine, Minn.) was named Goaltender of the Week, while freshman forward
Mercury Bischoff (Cohasset, Minn.) earned her first career Rookie of the Week honor.
The Mavericks picked up a monumental sweep over No. 2 Minnesota this past weekend, winning 3–1 Friday at Ridder Arena and 4–1 Saturday at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
Hansen anchored the Mavericks in both games, stopping 66 of 68 shots across the series. She posted a .970 save percentage, a 1.00 goals-against average, and recorded back-to-back wins to help secure the program's first sweep of the Gophers since 2006.
Bischoff delivered a breakout performance, totaling six points in the two-game set. She tallied two assists and a goal in Friday's win before recording a hat trick on Saturday, which included a power-play goal and the eventual game-winner. Bischoff played a role in six of Minnesota State's seven goals over the weekend.
Minnesota State returns home next week for a nonconference series against Dartmouth on Nov. 28–29 at the Mayo Clinic HSEC. Puck drop is set for 2 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
