Mavericks Defeat Concordia-St. Paul and St. Thomas in Double Dual

MANKATO, Minn. — Minnesota State edged St. Thomas and Concordia-St. Paul in a pair duals, highlighted by Averi Larsen's first-place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle.

MSU defeated UST 151-146, while also besting CSP 230-69. The Mavericks now own a 4-1 dual record on the season.

Minnesota State showcased a strong performance in their dual meet against St. Thomas and Concordia St. Paul. The team claimed victory in the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.66, highlighting the efforts of sophomore Savannah Acker, Larsen, freshman Parker Schmieding, and sophomore Sydney Pippert. Acker also excelled in individual events, securing second place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.50 and first in the 200 Yard Backstroke, clocking in at 2:06.97. In the 100 Yard Freestyle, Larsen led the team with a first-place finish, posting a time of 53.39.

In the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle, standout performances included sophomore Hannah Denzer, who finished first with a time of 1:57.28, closely followed by freshman Gracie Bartholomew at 1:58.86. The Mavericks' relay teams continued to impress in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with the 'A' team finishing first in 1:38.44, bolstered by the efforts of Pippert, Acker, Bartholomew, and sophomore Norah Naatjes. Additionally, Natalie Freeman delivered a strong performance on the diving board, placing second in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 237.70.

Larsen was a standout for the Mavericks, showing versatility and strength across multiple events. She captured first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06.07 and led the 100-yard freestyle with a 53.39 finish. Acker delivered strong performances in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard backstroke. Her split of 26.69 in the medley relay contributed to the team's first-place finish, while she clocked a 2:06.97 in the backstroke. Schmieding also excelled, securing a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.16 and contributing to the relay teams. Bartholomew was another key competitor, placing third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.86 and swimming a fast split in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Mavericks will travel to face Southwest Minnesota State on November 15, with the action set to begin at 1 p.m. at Don Palm Natatorium in Marshall, Minn.
