MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State men's hockey was ranked No. 20 in this week's USCHO.com national Division I poll, as well as the USA Hockey/The Rink Live Division I poll on Monday (Oct. 6). Defending national champion Western Michigan was ranked No. 1 in both polls for the second straight week. Michigan State was second.
The Mavericks were idle over the weekend but open the regular season at Omaha (receiving votes) on Oct. 10-11 at Baxter Arena. The team then travels to No. 20 Wisconsin Oct. 16-17. MSU was ranked second in the CCHA Preseason Coaches' Poll and first in the CCHA Preseason Media poll in September.
Fellow CCHA rival St. Thomas (1-0) was No. 19 in both national rankings after a win over St. Cloud State on Saturday. Michigan Tech, Bemidji State, Bowling Green and Augustana received national votes.
