EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Minnesota State tennis downed University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 6-1 in a fall match Saturday at John & Fay Menard Tennis Center. The Mavericks grabbed a pair of wins in doubles, then took singles positions two through six to secure victory.
 
"Today went pretty well and I was really happy with how we battled," said head coach Matt Hokanson. "Overall I felt like we stepped up to the plate against a good team on the road. Mentally, we were strong and we won a lot of close matches so I was pretty content with how the day went. Georgia won after losing the first set 6-1, which was impressive and our doubles was pretty solid too. I'm pretty confident about the rest of the fall."
 
The Mavericks continue with the Gustavus October Invite Oct. 5-6 at Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota.
