SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Members of the Minnesota State tennis team took to the court at the Augustana Invite Saturday and Sunday in bracket play. The Mavericks had eight student-athletes compete in singles and doubles at Tomar Park.
 
Hana Minisy made it to the finals in singles draw five and Taina Cordeiro won her opening match to make the semifinals of singles draw seven. The Mavericks faced competition including Winona State, North Dakota, Augustana, Mount Mary College, Sioux Falls, Creighton and Nebraska-Omaha.
 
"I am so pleased with how the weekend went for us in Sioux Falls," said head coach Matt Hokanson. "We got numerous individual wins against high-quality Division I and Division II competition. More importantly though, our team battled mentally and physically so well. Our team has embraced that part of the sport and fully commits to it each time they step on the court. There is a lot of work to be done over the next few months, but I can't express how proud I am of this group and how we've opened up our 2024-25 season."
 
The Mavericks compete next at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday, September 28 at 5 p.m. at the John & Fay Menard Tennis Center.
