Emmanuel Matadi (2015) advanced to the semifinals in the 100m event at the Paris Olympics on Saturday, then finished eighth in semifinal no. 2 Sunday afternoon at Stade de France.
Matadi advanced to the semifinals after finishing fourth in heat 7 with a time of 10.08 Saturday. Matadi entered Sunday's semifinals in a tie for 19th in the 100m event.
Sunday afternoon, Matadi ran a time of 10.18 (26th overall). Akani Simbine (South Africa) and Letsile Tebogo (Botswana) earned automatic qualifiers in Matadi's heat with times of 9.87 and 9.91 respectively.
Three weeks prior to Sunday's semifinals, Matadi recorded a 100 meter dash time of 9.91. All eight 100 meter final qualifiers ran sub 10 second times for the first time in Olympic history.
