MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Athletic Department hosted a
"Welcome Home Celebration" for the Minnesota State men's and women's basketball teams on Monday, April 1, in the Taylor Center on the campus of Minnesota State University.
The event was free and open to the public and featured both teams as well as other University dignitaries. Doors opened at 4 p.m., and the program began at 4:30 p.m.
Following the program, fans had the opportunity to get autographs from both teams on the concourse. The ceremony kicked off with a 10-minute montage video on the Krabbenhoft Family Videoboard (new in 2023-24).
Longtime Maverick basketball public address announcer Brian Zins served as master of ceremonies and featured speakers included Athletics Director Kevin Buisman, Mankato mayor Najwa Massad, Glen and Becky Taylor, Minnesota State President Dr. Edward Inch, head coaches Emily Thiesse and
Matt Margenthaler, student government president Sierra Roiger, and players
Joey Batt and
Malik Willingham.

The Minnesota State women's basketball team defeated Texas Woman's University for their first NCAA Division II National Title since 2009 in St. Joseph, Missouri on Friday. The Minnesota State men's basketball team defeated Nova Southeastern University for their first NCAA Division II Title in program history in Evansville, Indiana on Saturday.
