Box Score WINONA, Minn. - Minnesota State edged St. Cloud State 4-3 in NSIC tennis Sunday afternoon at Winona Tennis Center as the Mavericks improved to 4-1 in conference play.

"I was extremely pleased with how today went," said head coach Tristen Bryant-Otake. We came out in doubles and handled business. It carried over into our singles play with some interesting matches happening. We faced some adversity but handled it well. I was glad to extend the lineup today. We battled for the win and I am looking forward to our next conference matches in Sioux Falls.

The Mavericks grabbed wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, which proved critical later in the match. Avery Stilwell made it 2-0 Mavericks when she dropped just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles over Maria Paz Aoki. The Huskies got on the scoreboard at No. 5 singles but Freia Lawrence polished off a straight-set win at No. 1 over Claudia Munoz Perez 6-2, 6-3. McKenna Demarce clinched the match at No. 3 by besting Oriana Grott 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.

The Mavericks (6-4, 4-1 NSIC) continue next week at University of Sioux Falls March 23 at 7 p.m. St. Cloud State (3-6, 1-3 NSIC) travels to MSU Moorhead next.
