MANKATO, Minn. --- It came down to a shootout in a scoreless match Friday afternoon on The Pitch, but it was Minnesota State that was able to win in the shootout as the Mavericks bested the University of Mary 5-3 to advance to the NSIC Tournament Championship.
The match will go down as a 0-0 draw for both teams. MSU now owns a 13-1-6- record and has not allowed a goal in nine consecutive matches. UMary now owns an 11-4-4 record.

Clare Longueville notched her 10th shutout of the season as she stopped five shots to bring her season record to 12-0-5. Sophomore
Lauren McAlpine came on to for the shootout where she stopped one of the four shots she faced. UMary's Molly Fisher (10-4-4) stopped five shots to earn her 10th shutout of the season.

Ashlyn Watt to shoot for the Mavericks in the shootout. MSU would go 5-for-5 with Watt's make proving to be the clincher. UMary made its first two shots, but McApline stopped Sophia Lange's shot in the third round to help lock down the shootout win.
In total, Minnesota State took 17 shots, including five on goal, while UMary recorded eight shots, including five on net as well. The Marauders also held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Minnesota State returns to action on Sunday in the NSIC Tournament Championship match vs. Minot State. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at The Pitch.
