MANKATO, Minn. --- Fifth-ranked Minnesota (20-5-1, 14-5-1 WCHA) downed Minnesota State (10-17-0, 4-16-0 WCHA) by a final of 2-1 in overtime Saturday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
The Mavericks found themselves in their third overtime game this season and the first time against Minnesota since January 15, 2022. The Mavericks are now 1-2 in overtime play this season following today's loss to the Gophers.
The Gophers started fast as they found the contest's first marker just under three minutes into regulation. The Mavericks fought to climb back outshooting Minnesota 6-5 in the first period.

Kennedy Bobyck was able to solve Minnesota's Skylar Vetter at the 9:17 mark of the third period for her fifth tally of the season. On the play, sophomore

Jessica Boland collected her fifth helper of the year.

Sydney Langseth's 17th faceoff win - 70.8 percent win ratio on the day- the Mavericks coughed up the puck resulting in a two-on-one in overtime leading to Minnesota's Payton Hemp game-winning-goal to steal the victory against the Mavericks.

John Harrington. "We need to keep giving ourselves a shot in the third period by creating opportunities as we look to continue to capitalize on our opponents' mistakes."
Minnesota State is back in action on Friday to take on No. 7 Minnesota Duluth at AMSOIL Arena with action set for 6 p.m.
