Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State (37-14, 25-8 NSIC) fell to St. Cloud (31-17, 20-10 NSIC) by a final of 7-3 to force the Mavericks into an elimination game against the winner of the UMC vs. AUG matchup this afternoon.
After the Huskies tagged the Mavericks with a three-run second inning, the Mavericks were able to generate offensive momentum in their half of the third.
Sophomore
Aidan Byrne worked a one-out single to bring junior
Jackson Hauge to the plate who crushed his 12th home run of the season to pull the Mavericks with one.
Hauge was able to tie the game at three with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh that plated junior
Hunter Ranweiler. The Mavericks' right fielder went 2-4 collecting all three Mavericks RBIs.
The Huskies would add four runs through the last two innings to close out their 7-3 win.
SCSU's
Ethan Lanthier (1-2) got the win for the Huskies going two and two-thirds innings surrendering no runs on one hit.
Senior
Chandler Fochs (6-2) was tagged with the loss despite going eight innings surrendering 2 runs on 10 hits.
