Mankato, Minn. -- Minnesota State (21-6, 11-2 NSIC) took down Minnesota Duluth (12-17, 5-11 NSIC) by finals of 4-3 and 13-3 at ISG Field.
After the Bulldogs grabbed an early two run lead in game one of the doubleheader, the Mavericks found their offensives stroke in the bottom of the fourth.
Freshman
Matthew Fleischhacker worked a two out walk later advancing to second on a wild pitch. Junior
Adam Schneider then punched an RBI single through the right side scoring the freshman speedster.
After the Mavericks found themselves in a hole in the bottom of the seventh, Schneider led off with a double down the left field line later moving to third on a single from Junior
Nick Baker.
Freshman
Louis Magers played hero in game one after ripping a double down the left field line scoring two walking it off for the Mavericks by a final of 4-3.
Junior
Nathan Culley (5-2) got the win putting in seven innings of work allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out 10 on the day.
Alex Wattermann (1-1) got tagged for the loss going one and two-thirds of an innings allowing two runs on two hits.
Minnesota State started the second game of the doubleheader with a leadoff single from Junior
Ryan Wickman who then reached second with his team-leading 11th stolen base on the year.
Junior
Jackson Hauge smacked one passed UMD's left fielder for an RBI double. The next batter, Schneider tripled to right center giving the Mavericks the early two-run lead.
Freshman
Louis Magers put the cherry on top in the Bottom of the first after an RBI single brought home Schneider giving the Mavericks a three-run cushion.
After a lighting malfunction sending ISG Field dark, the Mavericks returned to play with extra motivation. The Mavericks would go onto out score the Bulldogs 9-1 through two innings beating UMD by a final of 13-3 through eight innings.
Senior
Chandler Fochs (4-1) got the win going five and two-thirds innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out 10.
Mason Thiel (0-4) got tagged with the loss going five innings allowing four runs on five hits.
