MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team continues its season on Friday against Southwest Minnesota State in the first round of the NSIC Tournament. The dual is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, S.D.

MSU, which owns a 13-1 overall record, earned the second seed in the NSIC Tournament as it posted a 10-1 conference record. The winner of the dual between the Mavericks and the Mustangs will take on the winner of the dual between #3 seed UMary and #6 seed Winona State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The championship dual is scheduled for Sunday, at 10:00 a.m.

The winner of the tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Mavericks defeated the Mustangs 6-1 earlier this season. MSU swept all three of the doubles matches, before winning singles matches 1-5 in straight sets. SMSU has posted a 6-14 record this season, including a 5-6 NSIC record.

The Mavericks own a combined record of 72-12 in singles matches this season. Senior Lois Page owns a 9-1 record in No. 1 singles matches, while sophomore Freia Lawrence has posted a 6-2 record in No. 2 singles matches. Senior Chiara Carnelutti owns a 6-2 record in No. 3 singles matches, while sophomore Avery Stilwell has posted a 5-3 record in No. 4 singles matches. Freshman McKenna DeMarce leads the Mavericks in No. 5 singles matches with a 6-1 record, while sophomore Hana Minisy has posted a 3-0 record in No. 6 singles matches.

In doubles matches, the Mavericks have posted a combined record of 40-2. The duo of Carnelutti and Lawrence have posted a 12-0 record in No. 2 doubles matches, while Page and Stilwell have posted an 11-0 record in No. 1 doubles matches. DeMarce and sophomore Elizabeth Felderman own a 10-1 record in No. 3 doubles matches as well.
