Minnesota State Dominates UMary to Take Weekend Series

WAYNE, Neb. -- Minnesota State (19-6, 9-2 NSIC) takes down UMary (11-14, 4-6 NSIC) by a final of 14-7 at Pete Chapman Complex in Wayne, Nebraska.

The Mavericks took advantage of sloppy UMary fielding to help produce four unearned runs to open the game.

The Mavericks' lone hit of the inning came off the bat of freshman Louis Magers who punched a single through the right side driving home sophomore Mikey Gottschalk for the Mavericks' fourth tally of the inning.

Junior Nick Baker opened the third inning by doubling down the left field line setting up a freshman Matthew Fleischhacker RBI single for the Mavericks' fifth tally in the game.

MSU would tack on three more runs off three walks, two hit-by-pitches, three wild pitches, and a passed ball.

Junior Jackson Hauge finished off the painful inning for the Marauders by slapping an RBI triple to the center field corner plating sophomore Brock Johnson.

Minnesota State found more offensive success in the top of the fifth courtesy of leadoff singles from junior Ryan Wickman and sophomore Brock Johnson.

Junior Jackson Hauge collected his second RBI on the day plating Wickman off a ground ball while sophomore Mikey Gottschalk plated two more off an RBI single stretching the Mavericks' lead to 12-3.

The Mavericks would hold on to win by a final of 14-7.

Senior Chandler Fochs (3-1) earned the win for the Mavericks' going five innings allowing four runs off six hits while compiling six strikeouts.

Ryan Chamberlain (0-1) was tagged with the loss going two and two-thirds innings surrendering seven runs on three hits.

The Mavericks are back in action Tuesday as they take on St. Cloud for a midweek doubleheader. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
