ROGERS, Minn. --- Minnesota State picked up its seventh straight win Saturday afternoon as the Mavericks swept Minnesota Duluth 7-0.
With the win, MSU improves to 9-1, including a 6-1 NSIC record. With the loss, UMD drops to 8-5, including a 5-4 conference record.
MSU secured the first point of the dual by winning all three of the doubles matches.
Sophomore
Avery Stilwell and freshman
McKenna DeMarce earned a 6-3 win over Shay Callaway and Mallory Lithun in the No. 1 doubles match, while sophomore
Freia Lawrence and senior
Chiara Carnelutti bested Abby Johnson and Carly Chaney 6-0 in the No. 2 doubles match. Sophomore
Hana Minisy and freshman
Daria Podmogilnaia bested Olivia Honsey and Brynne Folden 6-1 in the No. 3 doubles match also.
MSU then won all six of the singles match to complete the 7-0 sweep.
Lawrence defeated Callaway 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles match, while Carnelutti won 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match. Stilwell and Podmogilnaia won 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches against Johnson and Chaney, respectively. DeMarce added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Honsey in the No. 5 singles match, while Minisy defeated Laura Palmer 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles match.
Minnesota State continues its season on Saturday, April 8, as it takes on Southwest Minnesota State in Owatonna, Minn. The dual is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
