Minneapolis, Minn. --- The Minnesota State Mavericks (12-4, 2-0 NSIC) took down the wolves in decisive fashion in game one by a final of 12-2 and continued to dominate in game two by a final of 5-2.
Junior
Adam Schneider put the Mavericks on the board in the second inning with an RBI double bringing home sophomore
Brock Johnson. Schneider would later come around to score in the fourth inning courtesy to junior
Ryan Wickman who punched an RBI single into left field.
The Mavericks owned the fifth inning bringing 13 batters to the plate seeing seven player touch home.
After two walks and a single from sophomore
Aidan Byrne, sophomore
Brock Johnson reached on a field choice bringing home Byrne.
Minnesota state loaded the bases for the second time of the inning for junior
Ryan Friedges. He reached on a fielding error allowing the Mavericks first baseman to reach third on the error clearing the bases. Friedges would then score on a wild pitch giving the Mavericks an 8-1 lead.
Junior
Jackson Hauge kept the inning going with his hot bat hitting a triple to center field scoring junior
Hunter Ranweiler for his 14th RBI of the season.
Sophomore
Ryan Bachman put the cherry on top notching his first two RBIs on the season in the sixth inning with an RBI single driving home juniors Ranweiler and Friedges.
Nathan Culley (4-0) grabbed the win in game one putting in six innings of work allowing one run on five hits while compiling nine strikeouts.
Michael Chevalier (2-1) got handed the loss after going four innings surrendering two runs on four hits.
In game two, Sophomore
Mikey Gottschalk led off the Mavericks half of the first inning with a triple to right center. The Mavericks infielder would score on a Byrne groundout to tie the game at one.
In the second inning, junior
Hunter Ranweiler would come around after a leadoff walk on freshman
Matthew Fleischhacker 's first career triple and third RBI on the season giving the Mavericks the lead. The freshman infielder would score off a Gottschalk sacrifice fly extending MSU's lead by two.
In the eighth inning, junior
Ryan Friedges battled in an 11 pitch at-bat to get the best of the Wolves pitcher
Jake Helleliod taking him deep for a two-run homer giving the Mavericks a 5-2 lead.
Sophomore
Spencer Wright notched his first career save holding the three-run lead for the Mavericks.
Dylan Gotto (4-0)notched the win in game two putting in seven innings of work allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out three.
Zach Carolin (1-1) was nailed with the loss going six innings surrendering three runs on nine hits.
The Mavericks are back in action tomorrow at U.S. Bank Stadium for their final game of the series against the Northern State Wolves. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 a.m.
