ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team picked up a pair of wins Saturday as it defeated Gustavus Adolphus 5-2 and Luther 7-0
With the win, MSU improves to 4-1 on the season.
Minnesota State began the day with a 5-2 win over Gustavus Adolphus.
The Mavericks swept the three doubles matches to claim the first point of the dual.
Senior
Lois Page and sophomore
Avery Stilwell defeated Yuki Oda and Pavla Yakimova 6-1 in the No.1 doubles match, while senior
Chiara Carnelutti and sophomore
Freia Lawrence bested Allison Szalay and Miolly Austin 6-3 in the No. 2 doubles match. Freshman
McKenna DeMarce and sophomore
Elizabeth Felderman won the No. 3 doubles match 6-4 against Alli Laux and Renata Hernandez.
The Mavericks went on to win four of the six singles matches to secure the 5-2 win.
Page recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win over Oda in the No. 1 singles match, while Lawrence bested Szalay 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match. Carnelutti won the No. 3 singles match over Laux 7-6, 7-5, while DeMarce defeated Yakimova 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 in the No. 5 singles match.
Minnesota State finished its day with a 7-0 sweep of the Norse.
The Mavericks won all three of the doubles matches to claim the first point of the dual.
Page and Stilwell won 6-3 against Renata Martinez and Julia Moreno in the No. 1 doubles match, while Carnelutti and Lawrence bested Sofia Sackett and Abby Ostermann 6-1 in the No. 2 doubles match. Flederman and DeMarce won the third doubles match 6-3 against Emily Rubbelke and Kylie Dunning also.
The Mavericks then won all six of the singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep.
Stilwell won 3-6, 7-5, 13-11 against Martinez in the No. 1 singles match, while freshman
Daria Podmogilaia defeated Moreno 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles match. Sophomore
Hana Minisy defeated Sackett 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match, while freshman
Georgia Deml earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over M. Ramirez-Maino in the No. 4 singles match. Felderman added a 6-2, 6-3 win over Riley O'Donnell in the fifth singles match, while freshman
Taina Cordeiro won 6-3, 6-0 against Abby Struble in the sixth singles match.
Minnesota State continues its season on the road this Friday as it takes on the Winona State Warriors. The dual is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
