Box Score 2 MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State finished its weekend on a high note as it defeated Missouri Western 7-6 and Northwest Missouri State 3-2.
MSU now owns a 3-1 record.

Junior
McKayla Armbruster (2-0) picked up the win as she gave up six runs, four earned, in five innings of work. Harley Pruetting (1-1) took the loss as she gave up three unearned runs in 2.2 innings. Sophomore
Sophia Del Vecchio earned the save as threw two innings of on-hit ball while striking out two.
Missouri Western's Kennedy Preston broke the ice in the top of the third as she blasted a two-run home run to left field to put the Griffons up 2-0. Not to be outdone in the third, the Mavericks rallied for three runs as sophomore
Cheyenne Behrends notched an RBI-double, before junior
Ellie Tallman drove in two more with an RBI-triple.
MSU added three more in the bottom of the fourth to increase its lead to 6-2. RBI-triples from junior
Madi Newman and junior
Kylie Sullivan, and an RBI-single from Behrends each drove in a run.
After exchanging runs in the fifth inning, Missouri Western rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth to cut MSU's lead to 7-6. An RBI-single from Sydni Hawkins and two-run single from Kalee Higdon drove in the three runs for the Griffons.
Del Vecchio came on in relief of Armbruster in the sixth and proceeded the shut down the Griffons as she earned her first save of the season in MSU's 7-6 win.
Behrends and Tallman each drove in two runs, with Behrends also scoring two runs.
Game 2 Recap
The Mavericks finished the day with a 3-2 win over Northwest Missouri State.
Armbruster (3-0) earned the win as she threw two innings of relief while striking out three. Breck Dickey (-02) took the loss in relief as she gave up two runs, one earned, in three innings.
The Bearcats struck first in the top of the first as Lillie Filger led off with a single, before Olivia Daugherty drove her in with a single to put Northwest Missouri up 1-0. The Bearcats held their 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth. Newman led off for the Mavericks and belted a solo shot to left field to tie the score at 1-1.
The Bearcats reclaimed the lead in the top of the fifth as Lela Bryant drove in Alexis Brown with an RBI-double to center to put NWMSU up 2-1. The Mavericks tied the game in the bottom of the sixth as a sacrifice fly from Nielsen drove in Newman.
Tallman drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI-single to give the Mavericks the 3-2 win.
Minnesota State continues its season on the weekend of Feb. 17-18 as it takes part in the Emporia State Classic in Emporia, Kan.
