ST. PETER, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team opened its season on a high note Saturday evening as it defeated Gustavus Adolphus 7-2.
With the win, MSU improves to 1-0 on the season.
MSU began the day winning two of the three doubles matches.

Lois Page and sophomore
Avery Stilwell defeated Alli Laux and Emily Norman 8-5 in the No. 2 doubles match, while freshman
McKenna DeMarce and sophomore
Elizabeth Felderman bested Renata Hernandez and Paula Yakimova 8-5 in the No. 3 doubles match.
The Mavericks then won five of the six singles matches to secure the 7-2 win.
Page defeated Allison Szalay 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match, while sophomore
Freia Lawrence defeated Laux 6-3, 3-6, 10-5 in the No. 2 singles match. Stilwell earned a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 4 singles match over Yakimova, while freshman
Daria Podmogilaia took the No. 5 singles match 6-0, 6-2 vs. Hernandez. DeMarce recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 6 singles match against Maddie Packer.
Minnesota State opens NSIC action on the road this Friday as it takes on the Sioux Falls Cougars. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
