MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State softball team continues its season this weekend in Emporia, Kan., as it will take on Oklahoma Baptist, Northwest Missouri State, Quincy and Newman at the Emporia State Softball Classic.

Friday, Feb, 17th Schedule
vs. Oklahoma Baptist, 10:00 a.m.
vs. Northwest Missouri State, 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 18th Schedule
vs. Quincy, 10:00 a.m.
vs. Newman, 12:15 p.m.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the weekend the owner of a 3-1 record. Previously the Mavericks bested Northwest Missouri State twice (11-0 & 3-2) and Missouri Western (7-6)

Junior Ellie Tallman paced the Mavericks with eight hits, seven RBI and a .667 batting average as she was named the NSIC Player of the Week. Sophomore Cheyenne Behrends batted. 500 with five hits and four RBI also, while juniors Madi Newman and Sydney Nelson each drove in three runs of their own.

Junior McKayla Armbruster paced the Mavericks in the circle with a 3-0 record, to go along with  a 2.33 ERA and 13 strikeouts. Sophomore Sophia Del Vecchio boasts a 2.55 ERA and has held opposing batters to a .225 batting average.

Lori Meyer is in her 39th season as head coach at Minnesota State. She owns a 1,338-715-3 record. 

Concerning the Bison: Oklahoma Baptist enters the weekend the owner of an 8-1 record. Last weekend, the Bison went 3-1 at the MSU Round Up where they defeated Cameron (10-1), Rockhurst (3-0) and Midwestern State (4-3).

Emily Adler leads the OBU with 15 hits, 13 RBI and a .517 batting average. Sammie Green has scored nine runs, while Adi Reese has scored seven runs, to go along with a .320 batting average.

Kayleigh Jones leads the OBU pitching staff with a 6-0 record and a 0.19 ERA. She has also thrown two shutouts and has struck out 64 batters. Aspen Younce owns a 1-0 record, to go along with a 1.70 ERA also.

Sam Maples is in her fifth season as head coach at Oklahoma Baptist. She owns a 93-91 record.

Concerning the Bearcats: Northwest Missouri State enters the weekend the owner of a 1-3 record, including a pair of losses to Minnesota State (11-0 & 3-2) in the most recent outings.

Aubrey Griffith leads the Bearcats with five hits, three RBI and a .500 batting average. Omara Love has tallied five hits also, while Olivia Daugherty has driven in four runs.

Breck Dickey leads the Bearcats in the circle with a 1-0 record and a 4.67 ERA. Breck Dickey has struck out nine batters, but owns a 8.00 ERA.

The Mavericks own a 26-7 all-time record against Northwest Missouri State. MSU went 2-0 against the Bearcats earlier this season.

Naomi Tellez is in her second season as head coach at Northwest Missouri State. She owns a 16-39 record.

Concerning the Hawks: This weekend's games will be the first for the Quincy Hawks.

Allyson Maynard led the Hawks last season with a .326 batting average, eight home runs and 33 RBI. Taylor Downen batted .318 with a team-leading 47 hits, to go along with five home runs and 23 RBI.  Jayle Jennings batted .308 and scored a team-leading 31 runs.

Jennings led the Hawks in the circle as well, as she boasted a 7-6 record with a 2.26 ERA and 43 strikeouts. Kaelyn Conger put together a 2-5 record last season, to go along with a 5.63 ERA.

This will be the first meeting between the Mavericks and Quincy.

Cathy Monroe is in her first season as head coach at Quincy.

Concerning the Jets: The Newman Jets enter the week the owners of a 3-3 record. Last week, Newman swept Northwestern Oklahoma State (10-9 & 3-0). The Jets will face Northwestern Oklahoma State in another doubleheader on Tuesday this week.

Lauire Cooke leads Newman with  10 hits and a .476 batting average. Gianna De Luca-Pappe has tallied seven hits and sevn RBI also, whle Tori Waggoner has scored six runs and is hitting .389.

Madison Dewitt owns a 0-0 record and 3.06 ERA. Jackie Gold has posted a 2-1 record and a 4.81 ERA as well.

Newman is coached by Andrea Gustafson who is in her fourth season. She owns a 36-80 record.
