MANKATO, Minn. --- #3 Minnesota State continues its season with a road game at #24 Winona State this Thursday, before finishing the week at home on Saturday against Concordia-St. Paul. Tip-off against the Warriors is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., at McCown Gymnasium, while tip-off against the Golden Bears is set for 1:00 p.m., at Taylor Center.
  
Minnesota State History: The 2023-24 season marks the 102nd campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,424-945 (.601) in 2,369 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 214-104 (.672) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.

Against the Warriors: Thursday's game between Minnesota State and Winona State marks their 149th meeting, with MSU leading the all-time series 94-54. The Mavericks have won their last three games against the Warriors, including a 67-65 win at Taylor Center in their most recent outing last season.

Senior Malik Willingham recorded 29 points, three rebounds and three blocks against WSU, while junior Kyreese Willingham notched 10 points and eight rebounds.

Connor Dillon led the Warriors with 20 points and five rebounds, while Connor Drew posted 10 points and eight rebounds. Declan Dillon posted eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists also.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 20-24 record against Winona State, including an 8-12 record on the road.

Against the Golden Bears: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul marks their 42nd all-time meeting, with MSU leading the series with a 35-6 record. The Mavericks have won their last 18 meetings against the Golden Bears, including a 79-74 road win in their most recent outing last season.

Senior Malik Willingham notched 17 points and seven rebounds, while junior Harrison Braudis tallied 14 points. Junior Kyreese Willingham added nine points also.

Antwan Kimmons posted 22 points and six assists for the Golden Bears, while Marcus Skeete notched nine points.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 33-5 record against Concordia-St. Paul, including a 16-2 record at Taylor Center.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the week the owner of a 10-0 record, including a 4-0 NSIC record. Last weekend, the Mavericks defeated Augustana 85-72 and Wayne State 110-77 on the road.

As a team, MSU is averaging 93.8 points and 41.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 52.4% from the field. The Mavericks have also passed out 171 assists and have forced 124 turnovers.

Senior Malik Willingham is averaging 19.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists a game this season. Junior Kyreese Willingham is posting 13.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game also, while graduate student Dylan Peeters has posted 10.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Junior Justin Eagins is averaging 13.6 points a game also.

The Mavericks are led by Matt Margenthaler, who is in his 23rd season at Minnesota State. He owns a career record of 463-209 (.688).

Concerning the Warriors: Winona State enters the week the owner of a 7-1 record, including a 4-1 NSIC record. Last weekend on the road, the Warriors defeated Wayne State 90-83 in overtime and Augustana 62-58.

As a unit, WSU is averaging 72.1 points and 33.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 47.3% from the field and 38.1% from three point range. The Warriors have passed out 96 assists and have forced 73 turnovers.

Connor Dillon is leading the Warriors with 24.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season. Connor Drew has tallied 13.8 points and 4.6 rebounds a game also, while Declan Dillon has notched 8.0 points and 4.9 rebounds a game.

Winona State is coached by Todd Eisner who is in his ninth season as head coach of the Warriors and 26th season overall. He owns a 122-98 record at Winona State and a 538-264 overall record.
 
Concerning the Golden Bears: Concordia-St. Paul enters the week the owner of a 7-4 record, including a 2-3 NSIC record. Last weekend on the road CSP bested Southwest Minnesota State 88-68, before falling to Sioux Falls 85-59.

As a team, CSP is averaging 86.3 points and 37.5 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 46.5% from the field and 35.9% from three point range. The Golden Bears have passed out 158 assists and have forced 110 turnovers.

Jordan Horn is averaging 23.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game this season, while Marcus Skeete has tallied 16.0 points and 7.5 rebounds a game. Antwan Kimmons has posted 15.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game also.

Concordia-St. Paul is coached by Matt Fletcher, who is in his fourth season as head coach at Concordia-St. Paul and eighth season overall. He owns a career record of 95-95 (.498), including 19-62 record at CSP.
