BEMIDJI, Minn. – Senior
Jamie Nelson scored a pair of third period goals for the Mavericks but Taylor Nelson scored on the power play 14 seconds into overtime to lift Bemidji State to a 3-2 win over Minnesota State at Sanford Center Friday night in WCHA play.
The Mavericks (2-10-0, 0-9-0 WCHA) winless streak stretched to 10 games while Taylor Nelson's overtime tally lifted the Beavers (1-11-1, 1-8-0 WCHA) to their first conference victory.
Khloe Lundd left a drop pass for
Taylor Nelson after drifting to the top of the right circle and Nelson fired a low shot that trickled over the goal line.
Bemidji State finished the contest with a narrow edge in shots on goal 27-26.
Junior
Suzette Faucher stopped 24 of 27 shots dropping to a 3.30 goals-against average and maintaining her .889 save percentage.
"We need to get more shots on the power play," stated head coach
John Harrington. "We need to do a better job getting bodies to the net while creating opportunities around the crease."
The Mavericks are back in action as they look to grab their first conference win against Bemidji State tomorrow at 3 p.m.
