Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State (2-6-0, 0-6-0 WCHA) was downed by St. Cloud State (9-2-0, 4-1-0 WCHA) by a 2-0 final Saturday afternoon at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.

St. Cloud State jumped on the Mavericks in the opening period outshooting MSU 13-8. The Huskies managed to capitalize on a rebound at the 18:40 mark of the first period resulting in the opening score.

The Mavericks stormed back in the second period outshooting St. Cloud State 12-6 owning the majority of score opportunities. SCSU's goaltender Jojo Chobak shut down all Maverick chances for her second shutout of the season.

The Huskies would notch a second goal just 34 seconds into the third period to push the Huskies over the Mavericks.

Junior Suzette Faucher stopped 24 of 26 shots faced improving her save percentage to .878 and goals-aganist average to 3.50.

"We've had some good scoring chances throughout the game but just were not able to finish on excellent opportunities," stated head coach John Harrington. "We need to improve on our powerplay. Going 0-3 with three shots on the man advantage won't get the job done."

The Mavericks are back in action on Friday when they travel to Ridder Arena to take on the Gophers at 6 p.m.
