#18 Mavericks Record 13th Shutout of Season in Win over Golden Eagles

MANKATO, Minn. --- #18 Minnesota State picked up its 10th win of the season Friday afternoon at the Maverick All-Sports Dome as MSU shutout Minnesota Crookston 4-0.

With the win, MSU improves to 10-2-5 on the season, including an 8-1-4 NSIC record. With the loss, UMC drops to 0-16, including a 0-12 conference record.

"We got an early one today which is always a good way to set the tone," head coach Brian Bahl said. "Seeing the ball hit the net a few more times was good for our confidence."

The Mavericks wasted no time in going up 1-0 as senior Allie Williams notched her sixth goal of the season in the third minute, with sophomore Avery Korsching getting the assist.

The Mavericks would go on to outshoot the Golden Eagles 17-0 in the first half, but the 1-0 score would hold through the first 45 minutes.

The second half would see three Mavericks net their first goal of the season as MSU cruised to the 4-0 win. Sophomore Kiera Laney scored in the 52nd minute, with sophomore Anna Van Wyngarden providing the assist, before senior Abigail Rieff scored off a pair of passes from freshman Mila Rustin and sophomore Addison Clarey in the 71st minute.

MSU's final goal of the match came in the 89th minute as sophomore Aubrey Bahl notched her first goal of the season, with senior Lucy Weninger getting the assist.

Senior Mackenzie Rath (10-1-4) picked up her 12th shutout of the season as she stopped both shots she faced. Abby Olson (0-14-0) took the loss as she allowed four goals, while making nine saves.
In total, the Mavericks outshot the Golden Eagles 36-2. MSU also enjoyed a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Minnesota State concludes its regular season schedule on Sunday as it hosts Bemidji State at the Maverick All-Sports Dome. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
