Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State (2-5-0, 0-5-0 WCHA) was downed by St. Cloud State (8-2-0, 3-1-0 WCHA) by a final of 3-1 Friday evening at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
The Mavericks jumped on the Huskies in the early part of the opening period with six shots in the first ten minutes of action.
Senior
Kennedy Bobyck opened the scoring this evening on an unassisted snipe from the top of the hash mark. Bobyck took command stealing the puck from a SCSU defender before marching into the Huskies' defensive zone to ring in her shot off the crossbar for her second goal on the season.
The Huskies responded 7:03 later off the stick of SCSU defender Grace Wolfe. The Huskies would add another in the second period to cap off the scoring.
Senior
Lauren Barbro saw 31 shots stopping 28 as she was handed her third loss of the season.
"We need to be able to find opportunities to help Lauren. This is our third consecutive game where we didn't capitalize on chances leaving us with one goal after sixty minutes," stated head coach
John Harrington. "If we are going to compete with good teams in this league we need to generate more goals." Â
Minnesota State will look to get back on track as they rematch the Huskies at 3 p.m. at the Mayo Clinic HSEC.
