#12 Minnesota State Dominates Bulldogs, 3-0

Mankato, Minn. --- No. 12 Minnesota State (6-1-3) dominated Minnesota Duluth (2-5-3) by a final of 3-0 Sunday afternoon at The Pitch.

The Mavericks jumped on the Bulldogs early, outshooting UMD 11-3 in the opening half.

In the 30th minute, sophomore Addison Clarey got the scoring rolling for the Mavericks after finding the back of the net for her second goal of the season. Senior Libby Spangler picked up her team-leading third assist on the season.

After consistent pressure by the Mavericks coming out of the half, freshman Maddix Archer collected the ball off the UMD goalkeeper who misplayed a shot for her third goal on the season at the 55th-minute mark. The freshman is now tied with senior Allie Williams and sophomore Avery Korsching for the most goals this season.

After senior Mackenzie Rath collected her fourth save on the day in the 75th minute, she quickly punted the ball across midfield hitting two Maverick attackers in stride. Clarey was there to collect the punt who then sent the ball over the heads of UMD defenders finding the foot of junior Louisa Shromoff who slipped her shot passed the UMD goalkeeper for her first goal of the season. On the play, Rath registered her first career point as she was credited with an assist.

Rath did much more than help score goals. The MSU goalkeeper delivered her 30th career shutout while collecting her 36th career win. Rath has now moved into third place in MSU all-time wins overtaking Allison Vroman (1999-02).

Head coach Brian Bahl after the game, "Great bounce-back game today. We had to overcome some injuries today as well and had a lot of players step up. Really proud of our ladies for that.

Our focus and effort were excellent, allowing us more chances than we had been. We were able to find the back of the net which was great to see.

Another phenomenal defensive effort for another shutout as well."

The Mavericks are back home Friday as they take on Southwest Minnesota State at 3 p.m.
