Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State freshman forward Taylor Otremba was named the WCHA Rookie of the Month after registering 2-7--9 in the month of January.

Otremba shot opened the month against Lindenwood (1/6) recording a line of 2-3--5 leading the Mavericks to a decisive 8-0 win on the road to open January.  Last weekend she registered a pair of assists in MSU's series at Ohio State. 

The Lakeville native first Maverick to earn WCHA Player of the Month honors this season.

Otremba has claimed three WCHA Rookie of the Week award: Oct. 31, Nov. 21, and Jan.9. 

The Mavericks (13-15-0, 7-15-0 WCHA) host Duluth Friday at 3 p.m., at the Mayo Clinic Events Center.
