MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State concludes its four-game rode trip this weekend as it travels to Northern State on Friday and #22 MSU Moorhead on Saturday. Tip-offs are scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m., respectively.
  
Minnesota State History: The 2022-23 season marks the 101st campaign as a varsity sport for Minnesota State men's basketball. The Mavericks are 1,410-938 (.600) in 2,348 games since the program's inception in the 1920-21 season. MSU capped its 33rd and final season as a member of the NCC in 2008 and owned a 283-267 (.515) record in 550 league games played. In the NSIC, MSU owns a 206-98 (.677) record to go with four regular-season championships and two tournament championships.

Against the Wolves: Friday's game between Minnesota State and Northern State marks their 32nd all-time meeting with MSU leading the series 17-14. The Mavericks went 1-1 against the Wolves last season, including a 65-62 loss in the first round of the NSIC Tournament on the road.

Senior Kelby Kramer recorded 14 points and nine rebounds, while sophomore Kyreese Willingham posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Jacksen Moni led the Wolves with 23 points and six rebounds, while Sam Masten posted 18 points and seven rebounds.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 10-11 record against Northern State, including a 3-5 record in the road.

Against the Dragons: Saturday's game between Minnesota State and MSU Moorhead marks their 101st all-time meeting with the Mavericks owning a 66-34 record against the Dragons. The Mavericks defeated the Dragons 74-68 in their only meeting last season.

Sophomore Malik Willingham netted 23 points for the Mavericks, while sophomore Tyrell Stuttley posted 15 points and four rebounds.

Gavin Baumgartner led the Dragons with 18 points and seven rebounds, while Jaden Stanley-Williams notched 13 points.

Head Coach Matt Margenthaler owns a 15-7 record against MSU Moorhead, including a 4-4 record on the road.

Concerning the Mavericks: Minnesota State enters the week the owner of a 13-5 record, including a 7-5 NSIC record. Last weekend, the Mavericks defeated Minnesota Crookston 71-66, before falling to Bemdiji State 79-69.

As a team, MSU is averaging 80.0 points and 39.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.2% from the field. The Mavericks are shooting 37.4% from three-point range and have passed out 252 assists and blocked 66 shots.

Junior Malik Willingham is averaging 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game this season. Sophomore Harrison Braudis is averaging 12.3 points per game and is shooting 52.5% from the field. Sophomore Kyreese Willingham has tallied 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game also, while senior Trevor Moore has posted 13.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as well.

The Mavericks are led by Matt Margenthaler, who is in his 22nd season at Minnesota State. He owns a career record of 449-202 (.689).

Concerning the Wolves: Northern State enters the weekend the owner of a 13-5 record, including a 9-3 NSIC record. Last weekend, NSU fell to both Sioux Falls (70-68) and Southwest Minnesota State (67-58) on the road.

As a unit, NSU is averaging 79.1 points and 35.4 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 46.1% from the field and 36.9% from long range. The Wolves have passed out 290 assists and have recorded 95 steals.

Sam Masten leads the Wolves with 17.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game. Jacksen Moni has notched 16.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game also, while Jordan Belka has tallied 12.8 points and 6.8 rebounds a game.

Northern State is coached by Saul Phillips who is in his fourth season as head coach of the Wolves. He owns a 78-25 record with the Wolves and a 293-186 career record.

Concerning the Dragons: MSU Moorhead enters the weekend the owner of a 15-3 record, including a 10-2 NSIC record. The Dragons defeated both Southwest Minnesota State (77-75) and Sioux Falls (85-80 OT) on the road last weekend.

As a team, MSUM is averaging 79.1 points and 37.8 rebounds per game this season, while shooting 46.2% from the field and 35.3% from three point range. The Dragons have passed out 234 assists and have recorded 105 steals.

Jacob Beeninga leads the Dragons with 17.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season, while Lorenzo McGhee has tallied 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. Gavin Baumgartner has notched 13.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists a game.

Tim Bergstraser is in his first season as head coach at MSU Moorhead. He owns a 15-3 record.
