#5 Mavericks Host Deb Schulz Open, Multiple Meet Records Fall

MANKATO, Minn. --- The fourth ranked Minnesota State women's track and field team hosted the Deb Schulz Open Friday in their final regular season meet ahead of the NSIC Championships.

The 100m saw Caitlyn Jones finish second with a time of 12.15.

Denisha Cartwright won the 100m hurdles with a meet record time of 13.59. Cartwright holds the second position in division II. Kynnedi Malone finished second with a provisional mark of 14.16 and ranks 21st in the nation.

Cartwright finished second in the 200m dash with a provisional of 23.64 and is now currently fifth in the country. Rose Cramer finished third with a mark of 23.84 and is 13th in division II.

MaKenna Thurston finished second in the 800m run with a time of 2:14.94.

In the discus throw Mack Rath finished third with a toss of 138' 6'' (42.22m).

Brea Perron set a new meet record in the hammer throw with a heave of 181' 10' (55.43m). Perron is seventh in division II. Kaylee Jensen finished third in the event with a provisional mark of 173' 9'' (52.96m). Jensen is 19th in the nation.

Taylor Elliott was victorious is the high jump with a provisional leap of 5' 8'' (1.73m). This effort is tied for ninth in division II. Zoe Stone finished second with a mark of 5' 4.25'' (1.63m) and is 23rd in the nation.

Samantha Sunnarborg set a new meet record in the javelin throw victory with a mark of 137' 3'' (41.83m). She holds the 31st spot in division II.

Kary Petricka set a new meet record in the long jump with a leap of 20' 7.75'' (6.29m) and is currently fourth in the country.

The Mavericks finished first through third in the pole vault with Paige Hickson winning the event with a mark of 12' 8.75'' (3.88m) and holds the 23rd spot in division II.

Perron followed up her hammer throw victory with a win and another meet record in the shot put with a heave of 49' 0.75'' (14.95m). Perron is currently sixth in division II.

In the triple jump, Flore Gracia set a new school record with a jump of 41' 3'' (12.57m) and ranks tied for sixth in division II. She surpassed Elizabeth Brunner from 2019 who had a mark of 40' 5.5''. Stella Neophytou finished third with a provisional mark of 40' 6'' (12.34m) and ranks 12th in the country.


Minnesota State returns to action Thursday as they begin day one of the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Aberdeen, S.D.
