SARTELL, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four as it shutout the Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs 7-0
With the win, MSU improves to 15-9 on the season, including an 8-3 NSIC record. With the loss, UMD falls to 2-10, including a 2-8 conference record.
The Mavericks won all three of the doubles match to claim the first point of the dual. Junior Tristen Bryan-Otake and freshman
Avery Stilwell bested Shay Callaway and Isabel Thiner 6-2 in the No. 1 doubles match, while freshmen
Elizabeth Felderman and
Hana Minisy defeated Mallory Lithun and Abby Johnson 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles match. Freshmen
Taylor Julsrud and
Brynn Psooy added a 6-2 win over Amanda Hanowski and Laura Palmer in the No. 3 doubles match also.
Minnesota State then went on to win all six of the singles matches to complete the 7-0 sweep. Bryant-Otake won the No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-4 against Callaway, while Stilwell defeated Lithun 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match. Felderman posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Thiner in the No. 3 singles match, while Minisy defeated Johnson 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles match. Julsrud defeated Honsey 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 5 singles match, while Psooy posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Morgan Lueck in the No. 6 singles match.
Minnesota State continues its season on Wednesday as the Mavericks take on Bethany Lutheran College at 4:00 p.m., in Mankato, Minn.
