#4 Mavericks Finish Drake Relays and Compete at Drake Alternative

MANKATO, Minn. --- The number fourth ranked Minnesota State women's track and field team wrapped up the final day of competition at the Drake Relays Saturday afternoon. The Mavericks also took part in the Drake Alternative in St. Peter, Minn., on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus.

At the Drake Relays, Makayla Jackson got the first podium finish for the Mavericks as she finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.17. Jackson is currently tied for the second spot in the country in the event.

The 4x100m relay team took home the victory with a time of 45.47. The team consists of Denisha Cartwright, Ja'Cey Simmons, Rose Cramer, and Jackson. The team holds the top mark in the country for division II.

Brea Perron finished 15th in the hammer throw with a mark of 189' 4'' (57.71m). Perron is sixth in the country in the event. Kaylee Jensen placed 18th in the event with a toss of 174' 11'' (53.31m). Jensen ranks 18th in division II.

At the Drake Alternative, The Mavericks took home the top three spots in the high jump with Ashley Cridlebaugh winning with a height of 5' 3'' (1.60m).

In the pole vault, Paige Hickson won the event with a leap of  11' 9.5'' (3.65m). Hickson is currently tied for 19th in the country.

In the long jump, Trinity Moore won the event with a leap of 17' 1.25'' (5.21m).

The triple jump saw Stella Neophytou win the event with a mark of 37' 5.25'' (11.41m).

MacKenzie Gaherty finished third in the 1500m run with a time of 4:52.09.

Amaiya Barnes won the 400m dash with a time of 1:00.54. Barnes also finished second in the 200m dash with a time of 26.59.

Lyric Brennen finished fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.96.

Mariah Williams took home the victory in the 100m dash with a mark of 12.38.


Minnesota State returns to action on Wednesday as they host the Mavericks Open at the MSU Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
