#6 MSU Finishes California Swing at Long Beach Invite

Long Beach, Calif. --- The #6 ranked Minnesota State women's track and field finished their California road trip in the final day of the Long Beach Invitational on the campus of Long Beach State University.

In the 1500m, Amanda Montplaisir finished sixth with a time of 4:36.50.

The Minnesota State 4x100 relay team was victorious in the event with a NCAA provisional mark of 44.69. The team now ranks first in the country. MSU consisted of Denisha Cartwright, Ja'Cey Simmons, Rose Cramer, Makayla Jackson

Denisha Cartwright took home the sixth spot in the 100m with a time of 13.22. With her performance, Cartwright currently holds the top spot in the nation. Kynnedi Malone finished 41st in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.43m.

In the 100m dash, Simmons finished eighth with a time of 11.81. This NCAA provisional mark ranks 21st in the country. Kary Petricka finished 57th with a time of 12.57. Caitlyn Jones finished 62nd with a time of 12.63. Mariah Williams placed 68th with a mark of 12.74.

In the high jump, Taylor Elliott and Zoe Stone finished tied for 22nd with a height of 5' 3.25'' (1.61m).

Makayla Jackson took home the victory in the long jump with a distance of 21' 3.5'' (6.49m). Jackson holds the top spot in the country in the event. Petricka finished fourth in the event with a jump of 20' 3.5'' (6.18m) which is fourth best in the NCAA. Mariah Williams placed 10th with a mark of 19' 0.75'' (5.81m).

Flore Gracia set a new school record in the triple jump with a leap of 40' 8.25'' (12.40m). Her performance is currently tied for fourth in the nation. Stella Neophytou finished 17th with a distance of 38' 11.75'' (11.88m).

In the shot put, Katie Taylor finished eighth with a heave of 49' 7.75'' (15.13m). Which is currently fifth best in the NCAA. Brea Perron finished 22nd with a toss of 46' 7.5'' (14.21m). Taylor went on to finish 49th in the discus with a throw of 140' 4'' (42.78m).

The Mavericks return to action as they travel to the University of Minnesota to take part in the Brave Like Gabe Invite on Wednesday.
